Site Visitor Induction Policy
Introduction
Demolition work is inherently dangerous, and it is important to have a robust safety management system in place to protect workers and visitors alike. This document outlines the site visitor induction process and associated register for Mackay and Sons demolition project of 39 residential houses.
Site Visitor Induction Process
All visitors to the demolition site must complete a site-specific induction digitally before being allowed access. This self-directed digital induction will cover the following topics:
Project overview and scope of works
Site-specific hazards and risks
Emergency procedures
Personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
Visitors conduct and behaviour
The induction content will be delivered in a clear and concise format, and visitors will have the opportunity to review the material as needed. Any questions or issues encountered during the induction process should be directed to the site foreman. A record of the induction will be automatically logged, including the visitor’s name, date of induction, and confirmation of completion.
Site Visitor Register
A site visitor register will be maintained at the entrance to the demolition site. All visitors must sign in and out of the register, providing the following information:
Name
Company
Date
Time of arrival
Time of departure
Purpose of visit
Contact details
The site visitor register will be regularly reviewed to ensure that all visitors have completed the required induction and that their activities on site are monitored.
Additional Safety Measures
In addition to the site visitor induction and register, the following safety measures will be implemented:
All visitors will be accompanied by a competent person at all times.
Visitors will wear appropriate PPE, such as hard hats, safety glasses, safety boots, and high-visibility vests.
Exclusion zones will be established around hazardous areas, such as demolition zones and heavy machinery operating areas.
Regular safety inspections will be conducted to identify and address any potential hazards.
Emergency procedures will be in place in case of an accident or incident.
Conclusion
By implementing a comprehensive self-directed digital site visitor induction process and associated register, we can ensure the safety of all visitors to our demolition site. This will help protect them from potential hazards and ensure they are aware of the safety procedures in place. Visitors are encouraged to contact the site foreman if they have any questions or encounter issues during the induction process.
